The Daniel Defense M4A1 upper receiver group utilizes the Rail Interface System(RIS II) which has been fielded by US SOCOM for SOPMOD Block II weapon systems since 2005. This 2-piece, free floating rail system allows the mounting of the M203 grenade launcher without interfering with barrel harmonics. The 2-piece design also allows for partial disassembly for cleaning and uses a sturdy bolt up system. The M4A1 uses Daniel Defense's cold hammer forged barrel in a M4 profile, an Improved Flash Suppressor is permanently attached to the 14.5" barrel for 16" overall length.
