If you have a 590A1 with the bayonet lug and have OCD like me, you might want to consider other options. Installation is really straightforward, so long as you've installed a Magpul forend before and have the castle nut tool. The forend texture is good and feels fine in the hand but I had a tendency to accidentally turn the light on or off so I had to adjust the way I grip the forend. This could be alleviated with practice but it didn't feel natural; you shouldn't have to "think" how you hold a firearm, it should be instinctive and natural. Major negative was that the bayonet lug cast a shadow on the beam and was really annoying for me; again my aforementioned OCD. There's also no adjustment on the throw of the beam, so you can't make it more of less wide or narrow. Beam is bright and battery changes should be simple as you don't have to remove the forend from the shotgun to replace them. This might work better on a 500/590 model without a bayonet lug, had some adjustment for the throw of the beam and making the switches further back or more narrow, or better suited for a Shockwave or other model that has a shorter barrel; the farther forward the light, the better. Unfortunately can't return (because it's a flashlight).
